Biopics on musicians have been hitting screens like they’re going out of fashion lately, with the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, and Elvis getting the recent treatment.
And now it looks like Universal will be releasing one that tells the story of Bon Jovi, with reports suggesting a film looking at the early years and breakout of the band will be on the way.

According to an exclusive report by Deadline, the movie will be made by the studio that created other biopics, including Straight Outta Compton (on N.W.A.) and 8 Mile (Eminem), and will have the involvement of Jon Bon Jovi, as well as access to Bon Jovi’s musical catalogue.
In the piece, Deadline also notes that the picture will look at the formative years of the band, and the steps they took ahead of creating the stadium-filling anthems that many know them for today.
It is reportedly set to look particularly at the creation of their third record, Slippery When Wet, which features a catalogue of hits, including Livin’ On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, and Wanted Dead Or Alive. The 1986 record sold 30 million copies, and the movie will show viewers the events of their formation and the lead-up to their superstardom in the 80s.
Its cast, director, and title are yet to be named, though we do know that Cody Brotter will write the script of the upcoming Bon Jovi biopic, with Kevin J. Walsh and Gotham Chopra set to produce the movie. The latter was the director for the four-part Bon Jovi documentary, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which came out in 2024.
