Greg James will start ‘Radio 1’s Longest Ride’ from Weymouth before spending eight days on the saddle cycling all the way to Edinburgh for Red Nose Day.

A huge Radio 1 van has already arrived at Weymouth Pavilion ahead of the big day.

He is cycling on a tandem bike aptly named ‘Tando Norris’ after Formula 1 champion Lando Norris – who has his own Dorset links having discovered his talent for driving at Clay Pigeon Raceway at Wardon Hill near Dorchester.

He is aiming to ride around 1,000km, spending roughly eight hours a day on the bike, joined at points by fellow Radio 1 presenters, guests and listeners.

Greg is due to set off from Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow (Friday, March 13) between 8.30am and 8.40am with the on-air launch of the challenge taking place during his breakfast show that morning.

People are encouraged to head down early to line the route and wave him off.
