Fire crews have been battling a fire which broke out in a property in East Sussex, leaving it at risk of collapse.

Firefighters were called to the derelict building in Ashburnham Road, Eastbourne, at 16:55 GMT on Thursday.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) urged residents to keep doors and windows closed and asked others to avoid the area.

It said it was making “steady progress” fighting the flames, adding: “The derelict building has been badly damaged and there is a risk that some of it will collapse.”
