Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley has teased a dark future for her character Eva Price, who’ll soon find out the truth behind her stepson Will Driscoll being abused by Megan Walsh. After moving from Hull to be closer to the family, Megan has continued grooming Will in a twisted plot that is set to come to a climax next week on screen.

With Will’s schoolmate Sam Blakeman in the know about the inappropriate relationship, he considers revealing the truth to his stepmum Leanne Battersby, meaning that Megan is sure to make more than a few enemies in Weatherfield.

In a dramatic flash-forward episode, Megan was revealed as one of five in a lineup of possible murder victims, one of whom will be the dead body that Betsy Swain discovers this April.

Sitting down with Inside Soap for our Mother’s Day special, we asked Catherine whether Eva could be a murder suspect if Megan does end up as the victim.

“I wouldn’t put it past her!” she teases. “When Eva is pushed, you see that fire rise up, and sometimes she can’t contain it. I think when Eva finds out about Will and Megan, her first reaction will be panic, then anger. We know what she’s capable of… I’d be scared of Eva!”

Also in the victim lineup is Maggie Driscoll, Eva’s overbearing mother-in-law who she often struggles to see eye-to-eye with. However, Catherine reveals that Eva understands Maggie more than it seems on the surface…

“I think she sees things for what they are with Maggie. If Ben wasn’t on the scene, I think they’d be really good friends,” Catherine reflects. “There’s a lot of similarities. Maggie is a strong woman and her family comes first, and they have a similar sense of humour.

“With what the family are about to go through, there’s been some lovely scenes recently where they realise they’re more powerful together.”
