Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Ash Palmisciano has revealed a big new showdown coming up for his on-screen family – with emotions set to run high as the subject of Holly’s memorial is revisited following the sale of Butler’s Farm.

Ash’s character Matty Barton was left devastated this week as his mum Moira decided to sell her share of the farm to Kim Tate. Moira gave up the business to make life easier for her husband Cain, but Matty struggled to accept that it marked the end of an era for the Bartons and the Dingles.

When Moira struck her deal with Kim, she was assured that she’d always be able to visit her late daughter Holly – who’s buried in one of the fields. However, it seems that any sensitivities surrounding the situation could soon be forgotten…

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap magazine, Ash explained: “Matty is the less hot-headed member of the family, but with Moira being inside, he’s starting to show a bit more of that and he gets very cross over something.

“His sister Holly’s memorial tree gets chopped down and Matty’s fuming, so he goes to confront the Tates. His worry is: what is this going to do to Moira at her most vulnerable time?”

Ash was speaking in a joint interview and photoshoot with his on-screen mum Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira. This week’s issue of Inside Soap is a Mother’s Day special, featuring 16 extra pages and exclusive chats to celebrate the occasion.

Asked whether Moira stands any chance of being released from jail soon, Natalie replied: “Start the campaign! I received some fan mail the other day which was loads of strips of paper, thinly cut just saying: ‘Free Moira!’

“You’ve got lots to look forward to – I find out more today as I have a meeting with one of our producers here at Emmerdale.”

Moira has been held on remand for several weeks after being wrongly accused of double murder, human trafficking and running a forced labour operation.
