The long period of wait is over. Fabio Jakobsen will finally return to racing next week, for the first time since his surgery four months ago. The Dutch sprinter has not raced since March 26, when he dropped out of Classic Brugge-De Panne early on into the race, unable to keep up with the pace of peloton. A few examinations later, Jakobsen’s problem was diagnosed and the 28-year-old underwent surgery on both legs to try to resolve a narrowing of his iliac arteries. For this reason, we haven’t seen much of Jakobsen recently. The operation forced him to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation program and miss the Tour de France as well as Vuelta a Espana. But the Dutchman is already feeling better and will return to competition next Tuesday at five-day Tour of Denmark.
