With food prices almost 40 per cent higher than five years ago, this compelling investigation by Kate Quilton feels well-timed as she looks at the value of loyalty cards and how to cut costs. The documentary also dives deeper to find out how tech helps supermarkets to monitor our habits and, amazingly, how they can discern we’re ill before we know ourselves.

Alexander Armstrong In India

Armstrong’s amiable jolly concludes with a look at the gulf between India’s rich and poor. He visits the Bangalore Club, where the waiting list is 18 years long and his casual footwear is frowned upon, and the so-called untouchables in India’s entrenched caste system.

The Apprentice

The remaining contestants are given a shot at redemption as the business competition continues. They’re tasked with repeating week one’s Hong Kong-based mission of a scavenger hunt to purchase unusual items. It should be easier on the Isle of Wight, but competitors struggle to identify some items and make the fatal mistake – in Lord Sugar’s eyes – of failing to haggle.

Brisk hotelier Alex Polizzi takes her can-do attitude to Gatwick Turret, a family-run budget hotel catering to airport customers. Owners Ram and Anj want to hand it over to their son, but can’t retire on its poor profit margins. Polizzi creates airport-themed family rooms for a premium price and suggests marketing schemes to help the business take off. VP
