Mason Mount is hoping to prove his worth to Manchester United in his third season at the club.
The first two years were a struggle for Mason Mount at Manchester United.
Mount’s biggest problem has been injuries, but Ruben Amorim has never doubted his quality or that the England international can be a key player in his preferred system.
One of Amorim’s jobs next season will be to get the best out of his players, and Mount has struggled to replicate his scintillating Chelsea form at Old Trafford.
The same applies to the rest of the squad, but it bodes well that Mount has enjoyed a positive pre-season, showing moments of brilliance and scoring a stunner in the 2-2 draw against Everton.
Amorim will hope that Mount can kick on, avoid injuries and prove his worth in the 2025/26 campaign.

Mount has been able to use the pre-season tour to his benefit, despite missing most of his second full season at the club due to injuries.
In United’s final game of the Premier League Summer Series, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring before Mount restored United’s lead.
Mount came off the bench in the second half and continued his impressive form on tour. He’ll be hoping to stay fit for the new campaign, with United playing Fiorentina at Old Trafford in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Speaking on talkSPORT, renowned presenter Jeff Stelling raved about Mount’s performance against Everton. His praise for Mount came after criticising United’s overall performance.
“They [United] were very worrying, however, on the plus side, Mason Mount came on in the second half as a substitute. He scored a brilliant goal and he was outstanding.”
Mount made just 26 appearances last season and he will hope to double that throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
Benni McCarthy happy for Mount
It’s a hindrance for United to have talented players like Mount out injured.
Former United coach Benni McCarthy witnessed Mount’s struggles in his first season at United, working as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff.
McCarthy took to Instagram to respond to Mount’s recent post, showcasing photos from United’s draw against Everton.
The former United first-team coach commented: “My guy. So happy for you, bro.”
United fans will be happy if Mount can replicate his pre-season form when the competitive campaign gets underway.
