The Iran, Israel and USA War – which has now gone on for two weeks – continues to wreak havoc with airspace in the Gulf.
All the Birmingham Airport flights cancelled today – Sunday, March 15
More flights are cancelled from Birmingham Airport on Sunday as the crisis in the Middle East continues. The Iran, Israel and USA War – which has now gone on for two weeks – continues to wreak havoc with airspace in the Gulf.
Before the crisis, the three big Gulf hubs – Dubai, home of Emirates, Abu Dhabi for Etihad and Qatar Airways’ Doha base – had established themselves as the crossroads of global aviation.
But the transport hubs, which fly to and from Birmingham, have faced flight chaos as a result of Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran. The chaos has had a knock-on impact on BHX, with airlines like Emirates and Qatar Airways grounding services.

On Sunday, Trump said he is “surprised” that US allies in the Gulf have been targeted by Iran, in an interview with NBC News.
The president called these countries “terrific”, adding that “they got shot at unnecessarily.” When talking about Iran’s decision to target them, Trump said it was “the biggest surprise I had of this whole thing.”
Below are the flights listed as cancelled to and from BHX on Sunday, March 15.
Departures
14:10 – Doha Hamad, QR 034, Qatar Airways
20:50 – Dubai, EK 038, Emirates
Arrivals
12:40 -Doha Hamad, QR 033, Qatar Airways
18:45 – Dubai, EK 037, Emirates
It comes as anger in the Middle East grows over US involvement in the attacks on Iran.
“The perceived Iran threat to the Gulf only became a reality when the US declared the war – Iran did not fire first,” says Khaled Almezaini, an associate professor of politics and international relations at Zayed University, in Abu Dhabi.
“There is strong condemnation of the Iranians but at the same time there’s a message to the Americans and the Israelis that, well, we have to find a way to end this. This is not our war.”
