Eric and Athol Rowan played nine Test matches together from 1948-51, all of them against England. The first of them was in Durban in 1948 and the last was at The Oval in 1951, which was the final international game for both of them. Eric, the elder one, had made his debut in 1935 and was primarily an opener, scoring 1965 runs with three hundreds in 26 matches. Athol, an offspinner, had made his debut in 1947, picking up 54 wickets and scoring 290 runs in 15 matches.
