FT: London City Lionesses 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal manager Renee Slegers:
“Definitely job done, we did business today. It was really hard conditions, the pitch was bobbly and it was very windy. The player had to deal with the circumstances, it was a learning for us. If you ask which team dealt with it best, it was us today. We didn’t create as many opportunities as we usually do, or get shots on target, but it is job done.”
On the form of Olivia Smith: “She’s been really good for us. That’s the reason we brought her in, the impact she can make and how she contributes to the way we play, she gives us another level and different things on the pitch. I am really happy we get out of her what we want, we ask her to play different roles and she does them so well. She’s so good, clinical and ruthless when in and around the goal.
On the impact of Stina Blackstenius off the bench: “We have such a good squad, Stina plays both roles really well. Starts for us, makes an impact, but is really good coming on to make an impact when there is more space as opposition come out and takes more risks. More space behind back lines, more fatigue, more transition – that’s her game.”
