More than 50 traffic offences were reported and eight vehicles seized as part of a day of enforcement action.

Essex Police said its Tendring neighbourhood policing team joined an effort to focus on those “breaking traffic laws and putting others at risk” earlier this week.

The force said traffic offence reports were issued for 28 instances of a mobile phone being used at the wheel, 20 seatbelt offences and two drivers without insurance.

Ch Insp Stuart Austin said the collaboration between the neighbourhood policing and road policing teams was “appreciated by not only me, but I’m sure by all the residents of Tendring.”
