GTA 6 might make you pass an age verification check to access its PS5 online features, if a newly leaked update for the current GTA Online client is anything to go by. Posted online by Rockstar leaker Tez2, the multiplayer portion of GTA 5 will soon ask players to verify their age.
Last week, the leaker claimed Rockstar is planning on rolling out age verification checks “in the near future” region by region. Now, they’ve posted pictures of the screen you’ll see. When selecting GTA Online in the main menu, you’ll see the message: “Please verify your age to access online features.”

Of course, the chances are this age verification check will also be part of GTA 6, in response to the UK’s new Online Safety Act laws. These age checks have rolled out across websites in recent weeks, restricting access to pornographic sites, as well as forcing UK users to confirm their age to access Discord, and more.
However, some savvy PS5 owners have used Norman Reedus’ face from Death Stranding 2 to get around the checks over fears of privacy. The age checks require you to make specific facial expressions, and Death Stranding 2 — funnily enough — facilitates that with its extensive Photo Mode and incredible visuals.
Since GTA 6 will also have online functionality and multiplayer modes, it’s highly likely it will ship with some form of age verification checks. The title is slated to come to PS5 on 26th May 2026, meaning we’re roughly 10 months away from launch.
