But just look at the league form of Aston Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest?

All teams with talented squads that have been stretched to breaking point.

Is it a coincidence that Manchester United, albeit under a new manager, are looking fresh in comparison after spending a rare season without European competition?

Another question may be, if they do qualify for the Champions League next season, will they have a strong enough squad to compete?
