Emmerdale‘s Charley Webb and Hollyoaks‘ Jamie Lomas have shared the tragic news of their beloved mum’s death. Helen Webb sadly passed away on Mother’s Day (15 March), following a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

The siblings each shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, alongside photos with their “beautiful” mum.

“For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone with this awful illness, you will know that you lose them not once but twice,” Lomas wrote in the caption.

“Our mum was always so strong and to watch her over the years slowly turn into someone who is just a shell of who they once were is very difficult to take and watch.

“You are now at peace mum and we love you and we will miss you so so much. You were the first person to love me before the world even knew I existed.”

The star thanked “all the wonderful staff” who cared for Helen, as well as everyone “who helped her in some way”. He added: “You truly are all amazing people.”

In Webb’s post, she explained: “The past twelve years were stolen from us, that’s the only way to describe this feeling. ‘The long goodbye’

“Thank you to everyone for all of your support, especially everyone that’s looked after her so well for the last 3 years. And to all of my closest people, I couldn’t life without you.”

Webb, who played Debbie Dingle, received a flood of support in the comment section from friends and fans alike, including her Emmerdale co-stars.

“So much love and strength at this difficult time,” said Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle), while Isabel Hodgins (Victoria Sugden) wrote: “I am so sorry Charley, thinking of you and sending you lots of love xxx”.

Hollyoaks and Emmerdale’s Gemma Atkinson echoed: “Oh Charley I’m so sorry.”

Meanwhile, Lomas, who plays Warren Fox, also received well-wishes from his Hollyoaks colleagues, with Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) writing: “Love you J. If you need anything you know where I am. Thinking of your family xx”.

“Sending so much love to you and your family ♥️ if you need anything we are here for you xxx,” commented Nikki Sanderson (Maxine Minniver).
