Kent head coach Adam Hollioake says the club brought in a faith healer to try and help rid them of injuries.

The club has been plagued by injuries as they have been relegated in the County Championship and finished bottom of Division Two in the past two seasons.

“We got a faith healer in over the winter, or a spirit healer,” Hollioake told The Cricketer.

“I’m not sure what the exact title was, but we got someone to warden off the evil spirits.”

An injury crisis in the bowling department last season resulted in two players coming in on loans and a total of three from overseas.

The club have won just three County Championship matches in the past two seasons, including two in 2025.

Kent have confirmed a “non-denominational geopathic surveyor” visited the club in the winter.

“This visit was conducted to support the promotion of positive wellbeing ahead of the new season,” Kent said in a statement.

“The club’s approach to player welfare and injury prevention remains firmly rooted in professional sports science, including its strength and conditioning programmes, medical support, physiotherapy, and carefully managed training schedules.

“The visit did not replace, or have any influence over, any of these established practices.”
