Gloucester Rugby have confirmed that homegrown prop Ciaran Knight has signed a contract extension with the Gallagher PREM club, having fought off competition from a number of local rivals.

Knight made his senior debut for the Cherry and Whites in 2017 and reached a significant milestone last season, making his 100th appearance in an away victory over Newcastle Falcons.

Comfortable on both sides of the scrum, Knight’s versatility and consistent performances have been key assets for Gloucester. His form was further recognised with a call-up to the England A squad ahead of their autumn clash with the All Blacks XV, and Bristol Bears are understood to have been keen to sign him this summer.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington said: “Knighter is a local lad from a strong rugby family, and he understands exactly what it means to represent Gloucester Rugby.

“Once he’d established himself in the matchday 23 over the past couple of seasons, he’s really come into his own.

“Whether at loosehead or tighthead, he’s always prepared to do whatever is needed for the team, and that speaks volumes about his character.

“We’re delighted that he’s committed his future to the Club.”

Knight added: “I’m incredibly proud to re-sign for my home club.

“To continue wearing the Cherry and White at Kingsholm is something any local player dreams of.

“This season hasn’t gone the way we wanted, but I’m determined to finish strongly and build momentum heading into 2026/27.”
