'This Is Finally Living Up to Its Promise': PS5 Pro Owners Thrilled with PSSR 2 Upgrade 1 Image: Push Square

The new PS5 Pro firmware update is available now, adding a toggle which forces PSSR 2 upscaling into all compatible games.

While several titles, like Resident Evil Requiem and Silent Hill F, have been updated to natively take advantage of the feature, this universal switch will ensure all supported software benefits from it.

While Sony generally anticipates good results, it can be turned off if you notice any inconsistencies or errors.

But the early feedback is excellent, with fans on the forum ResetEra overjoyed with the improvements thus far.

“This thing is finally living up to its promise,” one said, praising the improvements to Resident Evil Village’s already solid high framerate mode.

We’ve yet to see any real criticism of any of the games utilising the new feature.

Resident Evil 4’s excellent remake is said to be much better with the toggle enabled, while commentary around Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 notes its foliage is “completely fixed”.

We’re still eager to do our own testing, of course, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for expert analysis from the likes of Digital Foundry.

But so far, so good – it looks like Sony’s knocked this out of the park.
