A former MasterChef star and TikTok sensation has tragically died in a fatal car crash. Yanin Campos, 38, who starred on the beloved cooking show back in 2018, sadly died while driving home on Chihuahua, Mexico. On Saturday (August 2), the star reportedly lost control of her SUV and collided head-on with a parked car, according to local reports.
Images circulating online depict her severely damaged car, before the star sadly succumbing to her injuries in hospital two days later. Yanin’s brother, Raúl Campo, later confirmed her death on social media. He wrote: “To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my siser, Yanin Campos. The wake is at the Hernández Funeral Home for those who would like to say goodbye and join us.”
Police have confirmed the fatal smash took place on the Francisco R. Almada highway in Mexico at around 6.30am local time, and stated Yanin was driving the black GMC Terrain SUV when she crashed into the parked car.
The TV star was taken to the Hospital del Parque, but died in intensive care on Monday evening, leading police to launch an investigation to establish the cause of the crash.
Despite only coming sixth on the Mexican version of the TV cooking competition, she returned to the show for a special edition MasterChef: La Revancha.
As well as being a chef, Yanin was a professional nurse and digital content creator, sharing videos and posts on platforms TikTok, Instagram, and OnlyFans.
The late star had over 100,000 followers on TikTok and more than 75,000 fans following her page on Instagram.
Tributes have been pouring in for Campos, as one fan penned on X: “So tragic—38 is way too young. Condolences to her loved ones. Fame or not, life’s fragile.”
Another added: “Yanin Campos leaves us a legacy of #bravery, #passion, and authenticity. From nurse to dreamy cook, her story is a reminder to live without fear.”
