Many fans have had their say since it was revealed that Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle would be taking over Butler’s Farm on Emmerdale. But the topic hasn’t just been limited to viewers – former stars have weighed in too.
With Moira behind bars and Cain undergoing cancer treatment, the scheming Tates pounced and eventually bought the farm, though there was a twist as Joe handed over the reins to both Robert and Aaron in a shock move.
Naturally, the story isn’t over yet, but the pair have vowed to restore the farm to its former glory. With a Sugden finally back in their rightful place, the spirit of Emmerdale Farm has truly been revived.

Earlier this week, the ITV soap shared a post to its official social media channels regarding the shake-up, with former stars Kelvin Fletcher and Adam Thomas sharing their thoughts on the developments via Instagram.
Thomas, who played Adam Barton for nine years before leaving the soap in 2018, joked that his character wouldn’t be “happy” about the developments at the farm, while Andy Sugden actor Fletcher said that he “loved” the move.
Lyndon Ogbourne, who played Nathan Wylde for just over a year before leaving in 2010, also made a playful remark about the storyline and went one step further by teasing a potential return.
“Let’s see what Nathan has to say about that… you clearly didn’t check the contract 😉” he quipped, with several fans commenting that they would “love” for Nathan to make a comeback to the Dales after all these years.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw also commented on the storyline, sharing: “This return to the farm’s roots is a powerful moment, echoing the early drama that unfolded when Annie Sugden and her sons, Jack and Joe, farmed the land.
“Taking over the tenancy, grandson Robert wants to do his best and make his dad proud. With his loyal partner, Aaron, they are ready for this new chapter and committed to making the farm thrive.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
