Last month, during the annual Pokémon Day broadcast, The Pokémon Company announced the 2005 GameCube role-playing title Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was on the way to Switch 2 in March.

Following this news, the successor to Pokémon Colosseum is now officially available to Switch 2 users with an active Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

This game will be followed by Colosseum at some point in the future. You can check out the trailer for XD above, and below is the official game description and some screenshots from Nintendo:

“Using Shadow Pokémon, an evil organization has unleashed a sinister plot of world domination. With Eevee as your companion, and with the help of numerous friends along the way, you must fight against terrible foes and race against time to snag and purify the Shadow Pokémon and save the world!”

Nintendo also notes how you won’t be able to transfer Pokémon from Game Boy Advance titles to this Switch Online release.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was just one of the many game announcements shared during Pokémon Day this year. One other big surprise was the return of the Game Boy Advance classics Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen. You can find out what other Pokémon games are available for the Switch Online’s ‘Nintendo Classics’ library in our full guide.

Apart from Colosseum, we’re still waiting for Super Mario Sunshine to be added to the Switch 2’s GameCube library.

Will you be giving this Pokémon title a go on the Switch 2? Did you play it back in the day, or is this your first time trying it out? Let us know in the comments.
