Ally McCoist has jokingly suggested Celtic will get their “usual” five home games after the split while Rangers will be on the road for four of theirs.

The talkSPORT co-host was discussing the thrilling Scottish Premiership title race with radio colleague and Celtic fan Alan Brazil following the weekend’s results.

After Hearts lost at Kilmarnock and Celtic and Rangers both won, the top three are separated by just three points with only three matches to play until the split.

And McCoist was in mischievous mood when Brazil asked when the fixtures would be confirmed before pinpointing a key clash that isn’t the final Old Firm derby of the campaign.

“The Kilmarnock game was a brilliant result and Celtic had a good result beating Motherwell,” he said. “I know Motherwell went down to ten man but it’s still a good 3-1.

“I watched the Rangers game. 1-0 up, should have been two or three and then you know what it’s like, the nerves kick in a little bit.

I don’t know when the fixtures come out but I think you’ll get your usual five home games and we’ll get one at home and four away. You know something like that will happen.

“The Celtic Rangers game will be big, but Rangers have got to go to Tynecastle and I think Celtic have to play Hearts at Parkhead.

“Motherwell again and you forget, Falkirk are a good team. They are. and I keep going on about it, but what a job he’s done, John McGlynn.”

Meanwhile, the Ibrox legend revealed he loved catching up with a few of the Hibs squad at the recent Six Nations clash between Scotland and France.

Gregor Townsend’s men stunned the tournament favourites by beating them 50-40 at Murrayfield, setting up a three-way fight for the championship in the final day.

However, the Scots’ losing streak against Ireland continued in Dublin, and a last minute score clinched the title for France as they beat England at the death in Paris.

“What a day me and the wee yin had at Murrayfield.,” said McCoist. “The Hibs boys were there and they were brilliant.

“Wee Boyley (Martin Boyle), big Grant Hanley, Cadden – there was maybe about half-a-dozen, seven or eight of them.

“Great lads, I had the craic with them after the game and a couple of beers.”
