Marvel fans have theorised that the recently released Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has revealed Sadie Sink’s character. The Stranger Things star is part of the new MCU adventure’s cast – though who she’s playing is yet to be officially confirmed. Rumours have swirled that she’s set to take on the role of X-Men icon Jean Grey – and the new trailer could hint as such.
While she doesn’t appear in the newly-released preview, there is a segment that shows mind control, which could suggest she’s Jean.
“Love seeing [Tramell] Tillman, he’s so good,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “And that seems like confirmation that he is looking for a mutant (a threat you can’t see; people who look normal but have powers) and that Sadie’s character has mind control powers.”

“No shots of Sadie Sink’s face in this trailer, but that is definitely her in the shots of a figure bolt-strapped to the chair inside that lab. Also, the people being mind-control/possessed doesn’t hurt the Jean Grey rumor,” another mused.
A third wrote: “I wonder what the weird ‘mind-jumping’ thing is. Imagine them introducing Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, but under a Judas Traveller persona, one of the most hated Spider-Man characters ever. They’re both mutants, so maybe that’s the route they want to take.”
Sink herself previously addressed the rumours, telling Entertainment Weekly: “[The rumours were] happening before I even knew that I would be working on this project. I was like, ‘Wait! What are people talking about?'”
Speaking on fans noting the similarities in hair colour, she added: “A lot of people forget that hair colour can change, but, yeah, I understand all of the theories.

“People will just have to wait and see. I’m excited for all of it to maybe be put to rest,” she added.
Brand New Day’s trailer mainly focuses on the aftermath of No Way Home, which saw Peter Parker erase himself from the memories of loved ones including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), while we also get looks at Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released in cinemas on 31 July.
