A former Queensland representative has reportedly snubbed Super League offers to pen a new deal in the NRL worth $1,000,000.

The Daily Telegraph in Australia have reported that Dolphins enforcer Francis Molo has snubbed three NRL clubs as well as interest from Super League to sign a new deal with Kristian Woolf’s side.

With the overseas quota increased to ten players, plenty of clubs would have been able to make a move for Molo for 2027 with the 154-game NRL veteran sure to improve most forward packs.

Set to turn 32 in September, Molo is approaching the age at which several NRL enforcers have opted to make the switch to Super League, however, he’s opted to stay down under and remain loyal to the Phins.

That’s notable because despite Molo signing a new two-year deal worth $1,000,000, he reportedly had offers from other NRL clubs that would have seen him paid upwards of $650,000 per year.

For context, that would be around £345,000 in Super League but the reported deal he has signed to remain with the Dolphins sits at around £265,000 per year instead.

Molo has previously represented the Cook Islands and Samoa on the international stage with two appearances for Queensland in 2021 previously blocking him from playing for his birth nation of New Zealand, however, new rule changes around State of Origin eligibility means he could declare for the Kiwis ahead of this year’s World Cup if he wanted to.

He’s played a total of 154 NRL matches so far in his career and looks set to prove invaluable to the Dolphins this year, especially at the moment when so many of their forward pack is injured.

Daniel Saifiti is set to be out for a period with a shoulder injury whilst Tom Flegler didn’t return for the second half this past weekend after suffering a rib injury but he has been named to face Cronulla Sharks.
