As revealed by the County Press last month, cast and crew arrived on the Island around ten months ago to film the hour-long episode in Week 8, which aired this evening (Thursday).

After the teams discussed the task at The Hut, in Colwell, they split up into separate groups and headed off around the Island to complete their tasks to find and haggle for nine separate items in a list, Alan Sugar gave them.

They included finding items under the headings Rhubarb and Custard, Something Blue, Iguanodon, Mauchline Ware, Red Duster, Bird Nests, SUP, Black Cassette and Maddock Wight.

Teams were seen driving on the Military Road, down the Cascades in Ventnor and the country roads around Sandown, the Downs and in Newport.

In Newport, both teams visited Grace’s Bakery to order Bird’s Nest doughnuts, with one team showing initiative by having them made at its Ryde outlet, which is near the hovercraft terminal, where they needed to be by the end of the day.

Once ordered, one team high-fived in St Thomas’s Square.

In Shanklin, another team visited Jurassic Jim’s fossil shop and bought an Iguanodon bone. The other team picked up one from the Holistic Emporium in Sandown High Street.

Both teams bought a wine called Something Blue from Adgestone Vineyard, near Sandown, with one pair earning a substantial discount by mucking out a goat’s pen.

Also in the area, both teams bought 30 Maddock Wight garlic bulbs from The Garlic Farm in Newchurch, with one team negotiating a better deal by harvesting them from the fields in their smart attire.

One pair of apprentices had trouble trying to get a bargain of a Mauchline Ware box at The Squirrel’s Den in Arreton, while another team visited Antiek in Ryde, paying the first price offered for it.

Eddie’s Surf Academy in Yaverland sold a Stand-Up Paddleboard for a cut-price £180 to a delighted team.

After a mad rush to try to complete their tasks, both teams made their hovercraft with seconds to spare.

The “discount buying” task was not a success for Kieran McCartney’s team, with one of them given the “You’re fired” finger from Lord Sugar.

Visit Isle of Wight had put forward suggestions for local items and filming locations, competing against two other destinations also under consideration.

Tonight’s edition followed a tried and tested format, with two teams scouring the Island against the clock before a dramatic dash to the finish.

It following a ‘dismal’ performance on the same task in Hong Kong, with the Isle of Wight challenge giving the candidates an opportunity to redeem themselves.

During filming, the production team worked with several Island businesses, including The Royal Hotel in Ventnor — where Lord Sugar’s aides Karren Brady and Tim Campbell stayed.

The episode was part of season 20 on BBC One.
