Crocked Kasper Schmeichel assisted with coaching Celtic’s goalkeeper just days after revealing he has played his last game for the Hoops.

Speaking alongside his dad Peter on CBS this week, the Parkhead No. 1 revealed he faced up to 12 months on the sidelines with a torn bicep, torn rotator cuff, dislocated shoulder and torn labrum. Two surgeries will be required for the shot-stopper who is turning 40 later this year, with the veteran admitting he may have played his last game.

The Dane has not made an appearance since turning out for Celtic between the sticks against Hibs in February. He has missed his side’s last four games with Viljami Sinisalo stepped up as Martin O’Neill’s first-choice.

Schmeichel is out of contract in the summer and his career update notably failed to mention Celtic, with the club also yet to offer confirmation of the injury. But he was on hand at Lennoxtown alongside goalkeeping coach Michael McGovern.

He also embraced Martin O’Neill before working with Sinisalo and Ross Doohan. He goalkeeper did not have his gloves on during the session.

Schmeichel revealed earlier this week he had battled through the pain barrier to represent the Hoops as he eyed a spot at the World Cup with Denmark.

He told CBS: “I’ve come through the old school where you play through injuries.

“I felt in a game about six weeks ago when I dislocated it and like an idiot, I was just thinking about these World Cup playoffs for Denmark, I’ve got to get there.

“So I took the injections, took the pills to numb the pain and tried to get through it. The consultant’s words were ‘are you alright in the head?’

“Football means everything to me. It’s been my whole life, it’s been my whole identity so there’s a lot of things right now to try and wrap my head around but emotions are all over the show at the moment.

“But I’m trying to keep my mind busy.”
