Staff at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) discovered the weapon this morning.

They quickly informed West Yorkshire Police.

The force has confirmed that there is no ongoing risk to patients, visitors or staff.

A picture of the weapon shows it has a long black handle with a ridged grip and a metal head featuring a sharp pointed spike on one side and a curved blade on the other.

West Yorkshire Police praised the quick response of both hospital workers and the on‑site security team.

They added that staff and members of the public should continue to report anything suspicious.

On Friday, a post on the West Yorkshire Police – Bradford East page read: “Thanks to their quick actions and partnership with our on site team, the item was safely recovered and removed without incident.

“There is no ongoing risk to staff, patients, or visitors.

“We continue to work closely with our healthcare partners to keep our hospitals safe environments for everyone.

“If you see something that concerns you, please report it immediately.”
