While Newcastle have continued to struggle in their handling of the Alexander Isak transfer saga, the fee Liverpool could receive for Darwin Nunez has been reported, as has his contract length at Al-Hilal.
Today’s Alexander Isak update
Another day, another instalment in the ongoing Alexander Isak saga that must be wearing thin in the north east.
The striker was told to report to the training ground after his teammates and their families had gone home on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Newcastle‘s search for a replacement took a hit, with Benjamin Sesko reportedly choosing Man United over the Magpies after the former bid £74 million for his services.
They haven’t yet finalised a deal with RB Leipzig, however.
In terms of options that Eddie Howe could now turn to, the Telegraph said that Chelsea‘s Nicolas Jackson “features highly on his list of forward targets.”
Finally, north east journalist Lee Ryder wrote on X: “LFC have had every encouragement to put in another bid for Alexander Isak now.
“The money is all well and good but Newcastle have struggled to get deals done. Huge couple of weeks ahead.”
The signs are beginning to point towards another official bid from Liverpool, but without Newcastle lining up a certain replacement, this drawn out series of events is likely to drag on into the new season.

Darwin Nunez transfer close
Nunez has taken a step closer to leaving Liverpool, the Reds now agreeing a fee with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal according to several journalists.
Sky Sports reported that the fee will be comprised of an initial £46.2 million plus up to £10.4m in add-ons, which would take the total price to £56.6m.
In addition, Fabrizio Romano revealed the contract to be three years in length, lasting until June 2028.
While about £50m seems a good sum to receive for a striker who scored just five Premier League goals last season, the Reds could have got £60m for him from Al-Nassr in January.
However, who knows how the season may have played out without Nunez’s late goals against Brentford to secure three points at a crucial moment in the campaign?
Liverpool FC: On this day
On this day in 1984, Liverpool played in a friendly to mark the 80th anniversary of then second-division Belgian club Royal Charleroi SC.
The Reds clearly didn’t get the memo about it being the opposition’s occasion, though, as the visitors won 6-0 with goals from Ian Rush, Michael Robinson, Gary Gillespie, John Wark, Steve Nicol and Ronnie Whelan.
About 8,000 people watched the game at the Stade Communal Charleroi.
