It was “quite an experience” having contestants on The Apprentice visit his business for the latest series of the show, an Isle of Wight garlic farmer has revealed.

The BBC One programme filmed at The Garlic Farm, in Newchurch, run by husband and wife Barnes and Natasha Edwards, as part of a buying challenge featured in Thursday’s episode.

The contestants were tasked with purchasing nine items associated with the island as cheaply as possible, in scenes filmed in June.

“The whole premise of the show is around discounting,” said Barnes. “I couldn’t help but say the Isle of Wight generally doesn’t do discounting, it can’t afford to – everyone needs to make a living here.”
