Leeds United take on Brentford this evening with a huge injury boost looming in the form of Noah Okafor’s expected return.

United’s final eight games of the Premier League campaign need to see Daniel Farke remain on the right track to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Our final game of March sees us welcome an impressive Brentford side to Elland Road. Keith Andrews’ men are an outside shout for a European finish this season.

Is Leeds United’s home meeting with Brentford tonight must-win?

Looking at the form guide of Brentford on the road in recent months, you’d fancy them as a neutral to take something from West Yorkshire tonight.

However, for Leeds, it’s verging on must-win territory. While league positions would beg to differ, Leeds are in a position where remaining home games have to be capitalised on.

The Bees were second best against Leeds on their own turf back in December, and Leeds should fancy our chances to take the game to them again.

That is especially the case when you look at the fixtures taking place on Sunday afternoon. Leeds know that at least one of West Ham, Nottingham Forest or Spurs are dropping points, with Forest heading to North London to take on Igor Tudor’s men.

A win tonight would relieve a lot of the concern for us Leeds fans watching on at those games tomorrow.

Noah Okafor starting lineup boost could be huge for Leeds United’s winning chances

A big statement of intent from Farke would be how he names his starting lineup. Against Sunderland, I know I wasn’t the only one baffled at how defensive we set up against a side terrible on the road and missing several key players.

We got what we deserved for that setup: nothing.

Tonight, though, I do feel as though Farke will be a lot braver. He went with two strikers away to Crystal Palace. That is a huge change in mentality after multiple ultra-cautious lineups in 2026.

The main thing I’m hoping to see is Noah Okafor starting. The winger might not be at 100% just yet, but if he’s ready to start, he has to. Okafor has confirmed his availability today with the “I’m playing” Instagram story:

We’ve missed that wide threat 1v1. And, any time Okafor beats his man – which is often – he opens the pitch up in an instant.

I’d back Leeds to get the win if Farke sets us up in a way to take the game to these teams on home turf. We battered Chelsea and Crystal Palace in December doing that – why not here?

A win would be monumental for our hopes of staying up. It would make the international break feel a lot more relaxed.
