Casualty spoilers follow.

The end of Casualty’s current boxset ‘Learning Curve’ is fast approaching. However, after today’s exciting episode (21 March), the show is going on another break and won’t be back on our screens until after Easter, on Saturday 11 April.

As we take a short pause from the ED drama, we’re breaking down the big stories of this explosive boxset – with a sad death teased, and the future of the department itself under serious threat. Let’s discuss what questions we need answering in the final two dramatic episodes of ‘Learning Curve’:

1. Will the team pass the inspection?rida amaan, jodie whyte, casualty episode 10

BBC

The ED as a whole has been under threat in this boxset, since Matty’s anonymous call to the CQC led to the team failing two important safety inspections. As a result, the department was banned from taking emergency patients in the evenings, directly impacting their ability to treat the patients who most need their help.

We know that on the show’s return, the team is set to face one more make-or-break inspection, which is more important than ever. Should they fail again, Holby will lose its major trauma status as well as important funding, plus Flynn and Rida have put their names down for redundancy. Can the team pull together to save the department?

2. What is Siobhan’s next move?siobhan mckenzie, casualty episode 10

BBC

Siobhan was horrified when Cam was brought into the ED this week, after the nurse tried to take revenge on her rapist Chris and was brutally attacked in the process. She was forced to rethink how she moves forward after her ordeal, admitting that she was acting out of anger. When Cam told the police about his attack, this was enough to get Chris arrested.

Despite Flynn insisting that they won’t be able to get through the inspection without her, Siobhan requested some much-needed time off to recover properly. However, she then told her colleague that there is something she needs to do first – what does Siobhan have planned, and does it involve Chris?

3. Will Kim get the help she needs?kim chang, casualty episode 10

BBC

Matty has been concerned about his struggling colleague Kim for weeks now, and this week he put the pieces together and realised that she has an eating disorder. After some gentle persuasion, Kim finally opened up to Matty about her past, explaining that she has previously received in-patient treatment for her issues.

But when Matty encouraged her to seek support, Kim shut him down – and threatened to tell everyone that it was him who phoned the CQC if he ever shared this secret with anyone. With Matty deterred from helping, Kim’s silent struggle then got worse when she took weight loss injections from a patient and started using them herself. Can Kim reach out before her condition deteriorates further?

4. What is wrong with Stevie?stevie, casualty

BBC

Stevie has been busy as a mentor to Kim as well as getting the department ready for the all-important inspection. But the consultant has also been dealing with her own worrying problem, as she is currently experiencing debilitating stomach pain. Last year Stevie received treatment for ovarian cancer, and while her latest scan thankfully came back clear, she is still very worried about what this pain means.

Faith has encouraged her mate to get this checked out for her own peace of mind, but will Stevie get answers?

5. What does the future hold for Faith and Iain?faith dean, casualty episode 10

BBC

Speaking of Faith, things aren’t looking too good for her and Iain at the moment. Faith is pregnant and while they are currently separated, she and husband Iain have agreed to co-parent their unborn baby together. However, various miscommunications and Iain’s admission that he slept with someone else recently have damaged their relationship greatly.

This week, Iain observed a close parent and child bond while on a callout that made him optimistic about fatherhood. But this bubble burst when on his return to the ED, Faith coldly handed him a parental agreement, dividing their duties once the baby arrives. Is there really no hope for Faith and Iain as a couple, or could their child bring them back together?

6. Can Dylan get through to Matty?matty linlaker, casualty episode 10

BBC

One of the biggest bombshells from this boxset was that Dylan is the biological father of newcomer Matty. Dylan secretly did a DNA test which confirmed this and was eventually forced to tell Matty the truth. But Matty was furious about Dylan’s deception so shut down the idea of them building a relationship and made it clear that he already has a father figure in his life.

This story has been put on the back burner recently, but will dramatic events at the climax of the boxset change Matty’s mind – or has Dylan missed his chance to be a dad?

7. Who will die?jacob, rash, iain, nicole, flynn, casualty

BBC

Since a trailer was released back in January showing a clip of the whole ED team looking sombre at a funeral, this has been by far the biggest question of the boxset. Stevie is seen speaking at the sad occasion, while Iain is sitting in the front row looking completely crushed, and theories have been flying around based on these mysterious clues.

Casualty has always been known for its sad deaths (Jeff Collier, anyone?) but the show hasn’t killed off a central character for a little while – so there could be major heartbreak ahead. There is a huge final episode coming up that you really won’t want to miss, but who could be about to lose their life, and why?

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
