Leeds United had to settle for a point amid their goalless draw with Brentford, meaning they have yet to score in four Premier League games.
There were no real clear-cut chances for Leeds despite their possession and set-piece frequency. Ethan Ampadu and Lukas Nmecha had efforts on target but none really threatened.
It was not a night of disaster but hardly one where the run-in nerves will soften. Here are how the Leeds players rated.
Karl Darlow – Kicking wasn’t always accurate, or assured. Didn’t have too much to do. 6
Jayden Bogle – Almost got in during the first-half, bringing a long ball down brilliantly but was snuffed out. Did give away a few balls. 6
Joe Rodon – Held his position well, communicating regularly with Bijol. Couldn’t get forward as half as regularly as he had done in previous weeks. 7
Jaka Bijol – Was solid overall in defence without being perfect. Pace is his nemesis. Wasn’t overly impactful from set-pieces. 6
Pascal Strujik – Had a poor first half in the main, with loose balls and a yellow card picked up. Had a good battle with Igor Thiago, keeping him at bay in the main. Yet was left running back a lot of the time Brentford attacked. Went off after a blow to the head. 6
James Justin – OK without being amazing. Leeds missed Gudmundsson’s left-wing ventures. Play did pass him by a bit at times. 6
Ethan Ampadu – Was the start of nearly every attack. He’s back to his old self, leading the team with action as well as communication. Long-throws were mixed, mind. 7
Brenden Aaronson – Started by losing his duels then grew into winning them. But didn’t do enough overall, including a tame shot that went well wide. 6
Anton Stach – Won a number of duels to spark the attack and also helped out going the other way. Looked like a German national team player. 8
Lukas Nmecha – Not sure his hybrid winger-cum-striker works that well, the attacker getting lost in the game for long periods. 5
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Struggled to get into the game. Held the ball up well but was not supprted much at all. 5
SUBS
Ao Tanaka (68′ for Aaronson) – Helped Leeds sustain the front foot but couldn’t provide the telling difference. 7
Daniel James (82′ for Struijk) – Provided legs and energy but not much end product. 5
Noah Okafor (68′ for Nmecha) – Ran about a bit and bent a shot that needed to be saved. 5
MANAGER: Daniel Farke – Not sure we will see the Nmecha wing-role again any time soon. Line-up was on par but perhaps could have made changes sooner – there was no reason not to. 7
