A young child was struck by a golf cart during the third day of the 2026 Valspar Championship at the Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort in Palm Harbor, FL, on Saturday. The girl was reported to be unhurt, according to the NBC broadcast, despite ending up beneath the cart.
Former LIV golfer Brooks Koepka was nearby when the incident took place and rushed over to comfort the child. Koepka stayed with the girl’s family around the 15th hole for a brief period of time, reported Dan Hicks and Smylie Kaufman on the broadcast.
Koepka and Danny Walker, playing together, were marginally delayed returning to the course. Hicks was the first to inform viewers of the incident.

“Right now, there is a lot of concern over at the 15th hole where Brooks Koepka is playing,” he said. ” You can see Koepka has come underneath the ropes near a golf cart, which ran into a little girl.
“She actually ended up under the cart. Smylie Kaufman, you saw it actually happen. What can you tell us about it?”
Kaufman, added: “Well, it was a very scary situation, just a vehicle that was transporting fans out here Not sure if she just got in the way, but it was obviously very scary.

Brooks, everyone ran over here to make sure she’s OK. Her parents are here.
Brooks has sat here talking to the little girl and comforted her. But a very, very scary situation, and I think everybody’s just trying to get their breath back.”
Kaufman eventually confirmed that the girl is doing alright. “I’m just being told by security here that the little girl is OK. Medical was not needed in evaluation, and she’s going to be just OK,” he said.

Koepka was halfway through the 15th when the incident occurred. The 35-year-old, who is a father to a two-year-old son, managed to keep his cool and finish the hole with a par.
“Really impressive, too, Brooks Koepka, he was the first one over there,” Kaufman said. “Of course, he’s a dad, I think we can all relate to that, just a scary situation. I imagine his head is spinning a little bit, but a lot of work to be done trying to get back into this somehow.”
Koepka was even on the day through 16 holes, leaving him in an eight-way tie for 11th at -4 (a group that includes his playing partner, Walker). Im Sung-Jae leads all players at -12.
