Huddersfield Giants

Luke Robinson has officially left Huddersfield Giants this afternoon following the termination of his contract.

The decision comes following Huddersfield’s loss to Bradford Bulls on Friday night, with the club remaining at the foot of the Super League table, having lost all five of their Super League games this season.

Robinson spent a year and a half in charge of the Giants, but he hasn’t been able to find traction at the helm and ultimately, the decision has been taken to relieve him of his duties.

Director of rugby Andy Kelly will take charge of the senior group for the time being and he’ll also be the man tasked with finding a new head coach to take the reins at the Accu Stadium.

Stepping in following the dismissal of Ian Watson in July 2024, Robinson initially took charge on an interim basis before landing the job permanently in September of that season after picking up four wins in the club’s last 11 games.

The 2025 season was a difficult one for the Giants, though, with injuries biting to prevent them finding any sort of form and after a late flurry of results, they eventually finished the season in 10th, with seven Super League wins on the board.

This season has started terribly, though, and while injuries to key men have occurred once more, the club have settled on the need for a change.

A short statement from the club read: “Huddersfield Giants have today terminated the contract of Head Coach Luke Robinson and seek immediate expressions of interest in the position going forward to be sent to Director of Rugby Andy Kelly before Saturday 28th March.

“In the interim period Andy Kelly will take charge of all first team matters.”
