The striker was the only frontman the champions paid money for in the summer but flopped
Celtic’s Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Daizen Maeda and Shin Yamada
Celtic could be set to welcome flop Shin Yamada back to Parkhead with the striker having failed to score a single goal all season after being dumped by the bottom side in Germany’s second tier.
The Japanese forward cost £1.5 million and was the only striker the Hoops paid a transfer fee for in the summer, after arriving from Kawasaki Frontale.
Shin, who made his Japan debut in the summer as a domestic team beat Hong Kong, still has three years left of his Hoops deal.
He failed to find the net in 11 appearances for Celtic, mostly from the bench and was shipped out on loan to German strugglers Preussen Munster at the end of January.
However, his time in Germany has been a disaster after drawing a blank in just one start and four sub appearances…and he was hooked at half time in his only start.

His club are rock bottom of Bundesliga 2 and sacked manager Alexander Ende last week after a disastrous 6-0 defeat at Dynamo Dresden, where Shin was an unused sub, before he was dropped entirely from the squad for a 3-1 defeat to FC Magdeburg.
But before he received his P45, Ende explained why 25-year-old Shin is unlikely to feature much before the end of the season.
He said: “At one stage we had 12 players out injured and that’s why we brought in loan players like Shin Yamada and Imad Rondic.
“Now all those injuries have cleared and we have six strikers for two positions. Tough decisions and disappointments are guaranteed. But every single professional in our squad is extremely valuable to us.”
