Liverpool boxer Nick Ball will defend his WBA featherweight title this month as he faces Sam Goodman in Saudi Arabia. The ‘Wrecking Ball’ will face his opponent in Riyadh on the undercard of Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte, with fans able to order the fight on Dazn.

Liverpool FC fan Ball fights the evening after the Reds’ first fixture of the new Premier League season on August 15, which sees them kick off their own title defence with a home game against Bournemouth. The 28-year-old defends his strap for the third time against ‘The Ghost’, who is on an undefeated twenty-fight streak (8 KOs).

But all things come to an end, and the former super-bantamweight contender, 26, is coming up against a formidable opponent in Ball, who boasts a 22-0-1 (13 KOs) record. The Liverpudlian earned his WBA title in a stellar bout last summer against American Raymond Ford, with Ball earning a narrow win after 12 rounds.

His last fight came in December against TJ Doheny at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, with Ball claiming victory with a 10th-round stoppage. He goes into his next fight full of confidence and believing he holds the advantage.

Speaking to The Ring, Ball said: “He’ll probably stand and try and fight, won’t he? He wants to become world champion. Then he’ll realise he can’t do that and I’ll take over. Either way, whatever way it’s going to go, it’s going to be in my favour.”
