EastEnders fans have ‘worked out’ what really happened between Josh Goodwin and Jasmine Fisher before they arrived on the Square. In scenes airing on Tuesday (24 March), fans saw how Jasmine reacted to news that her brother was in town – and it was not happy.
During the episode, the twins biological mother, Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), missed visiting Jasmine (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) in prison when Josh (Joshua Vaughn) agreed to talk to her. When Jasmine learned that her mother had snubbed her for her long-lost brother, she teared up and bitterly told grandmother Kat (Jessie Wallace) that she was pleading guilty to the murder of her biological father Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey).

Fans noticed that Jasmine’s reaction to hearing about Josh was not the warmest and some wondered if there was more about their backstory that hadn’t been shown yet. What we know so far is that something happened between Jasmine and her foster father Keith when she was eight, after which Keith died and Jasmine was given up, while Josh was adopted by their foster mother Sandra (Dawn Steele). But, fans have wondered if instead of Jasmine being the ‘problem child’, she took the blame for something Josh did.
One fan said: “I’m guessing that the incident that prevented jasmine from being adopted was actually josh’s fault somehow and she took the blame for it.”
Another agreed: “Just had a thought what if Josh actually killed the adopted father and jasmine took the blame for him like Paul Truman did for Anthony that’s why Josh is still so attached to Jasmine???”
A third noted that there do seem to be a lot of parallels between the twins and their birth father and uncle, Paul Trueman (Gary Beadle). They said: “It’s Paul and Anthony all over again. When they first joined Anthony was the good son and Paul was the bad one who had gotten involved in crime.

“Then we found out Paul had taken the fall for a crime Anthony had committed when he was younger. I could see that same thing playing out here.”
Though Josh has only arrived on EastEnders in the past week, he was first mentioned back in September, when Zoe Slater returned to the show. She believed her daughter had died, which was what caused her to abandon the babies in the hospital after they were born. Regretting her decision, she desperately searched for her long-lost son.
Around the same time, Jasmine first arrived on the Square. We later learned that Jasmine was Zoe’s daughter, who had survived and had come back to reek havoc on Zoe’s life after being convinced to do so by Chrissy Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman).
After revealing herself to Zoe on Christmas Day, Jasmine killed Anthony in self-defence. She initially let Zoe take the fall for the murder, and then tried to frame Chrissy, but later came clean. She is currently awaiting her trial.
