Super League fans have had their say on whether Luke Robinson’s sacking by Huddersfield Giants was ‘unfair’ or not.

Robinson took interim charge of the Giants in late 2024, seeing out the final 11 games of that season, but he’s now been sacked just five rounds into the 2026 Super League campaign.

Plenty has been made of the Giants’ cold statement in which they simply confirmed that his contract had been terminated and then immediately sought applications for a replacement, with questions ultimately asked about the culture at the club including by Serious About Rugby League’s sister site The Yorkshire Post.

Robinson’s win rate of just under 30% certainly wasn’t good enough but the club’s constant injury crisis and recent recruitment meant Robinson was massively hamstrung.

Serious About Rugby League asked Super League fans if they felt Robinson was ‘sacked unfairly’ by Huddersfield Giants, with the overwhelming majority of fans believing that to be the case.

Super League fans question Luke Robinson sacking

Even those who did think that Robinson was sacked ‘unfairly’ made note of the club’s other issues when responding to Serious About Rugby League’s Facebook post.

Lee Morris: He was sacked fairly but if Huddersfield think he was the problem, they’re going to find out ever so quickly that he wasn’t.

Joshua Parker: I’d say not as that’s just how the game works but it’s hard to say when there’s other issues and injuries all the time which isn’t his fault.

Others were far more sympathetic with Robinson.

Andrew Pleasants: I think given the injuries it’s a miracle they’re even as competitive as they are in some games.

Pauline Parr: He can’t produce miracles.

Brenda McAllister: Yes he was. I feel sorry for him with all those injuries. What was he supposed to do and who really is going to take they position and what can they do?

Darren Brown: Luke is not the problem, even world class coaches would struggle with that injury list. The guy is Huddersfield through & through nobody will want what he wants.

Jason Gibson: Definitely. Any coach would struggle under those circumstances. Unfortunately for him it’s a results business.

Andrew Jarrett: Be interesting to see what Magician or Faith Healer they bring in to prove they were right.

Dave Phillips: With the injuries they have there’s probably no other coach who could get them playing to full unless they had unlimited cap and money.
