St Helens star and former Super League Man of Steel Jackson Hastings has aired his views on the ‘Six Again’ rule following his sides’ victory over Toulouse Olympique.
The half-back, who returned to the northern hemisphere for the 2026 season, is a usual presence on social media, often thanking fans for their support and giving his thoughts on the competition as a whole.
A recent post from the 30-year-old saw him speak out about the new interpretations of the ‘Six Again’ ruling, and how the changes have altered the way the game is played.
Hastings, who put on a starring role in the win over Toulouse, posted on X, formerly Twitter, during the game between Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos on Sunday: “Crazy how much the 6 agains can dictate momentum.”
That then led to a conversation with a St Helens fan, leading the playmaker to comment on his own sides’ performance in south-west France.
“We were poor with our tackle and discipline our own fault,” he said in response to the fan saying “Toulouse got every single call”.
“It’s so fast and hard to gain control of the ruck after multiple 6 agains in a row because of how fast the rucks become slowing the tackle down is almost impossible.”
The new interpretations of the rules have been a hot topic in rugby league conversations on both sides of the world, with the NRL having the same problem.
Momentum obviously has such a huge effect, especially down under, with the Australian competition seeing a number of blowout scores in the early part of the season as opposed to the competitive, tight contests they are used to.
