Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has issued an injury update with a 2026 recruit closing in on a return and challenged to make an impact.
The Robins are preparing for their first Super League game at Craven Park since last October’s home play-off win against St Helens, who also happen to be the visitors on Friday night.
Saints are in fine form with four consecutive Super League wins since their opening day defeat but the same can’t be said for the Robins, who have had a slow start with last week’s defeat to Catalans Dragons another big blow.
One positive was that all those who featured came through without harm, with Peters confirming: “Everyone that played last week will be eligible this week for selection.”
With Arthur Mourgue still recovering from pec surgery and Rhyse Martin sidelined with a broken foot, Peters was asked about other absentees.
He confirmed: “Lee Kershaw (ACL) and Declan Murphy (knee) are out still for a while, and Jordan (Dezaria) has played last week. We had a reserves game against Hull FC, so he played in that game last week, so he’ll be eligible for selection again this week as well.”
Hull KR signing recovered from setback
Dezaria is yet to make his competitive debut for the Robins and when asked if Friday night could be the night, Peters maintained that it’s for Dezaria to earn his spot.
He responded: “Look, that’s up to him. Obviously, he played last week, so we look at that. We look at the training and see where the players are at. Look, he’s not too far.
“He’s obviously an experienced player. There’s no doubt that he had a setback doing his hamstring. He did it twice, so that put him back, unfortunately, but he’s training well at the moment, which is good.
“We had a good session there, and he was a big part of that. So as long as he keeps doing that and he keeps working hard on getting his fitness to where it needs to be, then he’ll always put himself in the frame.”
Peters was also asked about Kershaw, who is still yet to make a Super League appearance for the Robins, only featuring once in last year’s Challenge Cup win over Oldham.
Speaking about the 27-year-old’s recovery, Peters confirmed: “He started running, which is good. He’s flying down now straight lines down the sideline, which is good to see. He’s just got to build that and just see where he’s at.
“He’ll be another couple of months away or could be shorter than that but we’ll make sure that he’s fully ready to go. He’s in a lot stronger position than he’s been.”
