Huddersfield Giants have confirmed the loan signing of a St Helens winger for the remainder of the season.
Jacob Douglas will join the Giants, who are currently without a permanent head coach following the departure of Luke Robinson.
Douglas, 22, has not yet made an appearance for the Red Vee, after joining the club from Wigan Warriors this off-season.
He suffered an injury towards the end of pre-season, halting his chances of first-team action. With the likes of Kyle Feldt, Deon Cross, Lewis Murphy and Owen Dagnall ahead of him, the winger will be looking to build up game time and match fitness, so the move is logical for all parties.
Huddersfield are set to welcome back a number of players this week as they face Wigan, and Douglas is another fresh face that could make the 17 on Saturday afternoon.
He has made 21 appearances in his career so far, including six for Wigan, where he scored a hat-trick in victory over Salford Red Devils last season.
St Helens boss Paul Rowley said on his exit: “Dougie had a really strong pre-season; however, that injury just before the season started paused him a little bit, so he’s been working really hard to regain full fitness.
“Opportunities in the squad are currently a little more limited, so Jacob will be able to get valuable match time at Huddersfield, and we look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Giants interim boss Andy Kelly, said: “To add to the squad and support the coaching staff, we have quickly moved to bring in Jacob Douglas, he brings a tenacious approach to his game, he is quick and strong and will enhance any scoring opportunities in the game this weekend.”
