Coronation Street viewers are excited to see George Shuttleworth’s (Tony Maudsley) next move as Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) downfall is finally upon us. The character has haunted our screens for the last 12 months since he first stepped foot into Weatherfield.
We’ve seen Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) fall head over heels for the new builder on the cobbles. But what seemed like an adorable new relationship soon turned sinister when Theo’s true colours started to shine through.
Todd has fallen victim to endless amounts of physical and psychological abuse, as a dark domestic abuse storyline unfolded on the soap. Todd’s close friends have been oblivious to what has really gone on behind closed doors.
Fans were over the moon when Theo decided to end the relationship last week. But the storyline isn’t over yet, as Theo has now decided they are back together and whisked Todd away on a “surprise” afternoon out so the pair could tie the knot in secret.
Viewers were heartbroken to see Todd go through with the wedding, with many describing the scenes as difficult to watch.

Fans weren’t the only ones upset with the couple’s big news, as George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) clocked onto Todd’s discomfort after they announced their marriage in the Rovers Return.
Corrie fans are hoping George will be the one to take Theo down.
Speaking to Christina about the shock wedding, George said: “This all feels so sudden, it feels like Theo dragged Todd to the registry office.”
Christina said: “You’re making it sound like he forced him to marry him.” George said: “Maybe he did?”
Viewers were thrilled to see George finally think twice about Theo’s behaviour. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) was also upset by the couple’s announcement, and wondered why Todd went along with the marriage.
Taking to social media, fans “can’t wait” to see George’s next move to take Theo down.
On X, one viewer said: “Just loving how George is onto Theo, he’s spot on about the wedding, can’t wait for him to see exactly what Theo is next week.”
A second said: “The looks on George and Summer’s faces said it all. They both know about the abuse and it’s heartbreaking for them.”
A third said: “Good thing George and Summer picked up on the whole forced into marriage thing. I hope they can get Todd help soon.”
A fourth added: “I really hope George and Christina are the ones to take Theo down.” Another said: “Yes George is so right. Please listen to him Todd!”
Next week, Christina and Summer bring Glenda and Sarah up to speed on George’s theory that Theo is abusing Todd, horrified to realise Todd has been suffering in silence.
