West Ham youngsters Ezra Mayers and Airidas Golambeckis had a difficult night for England U19s on Tuesday.

Mayers and Golambeckis are just two of the Hammers’ many senior and academy players on international duty this week.

The defensive pair both started for the young Three Lions against Serbia, but they will want to forget about the performance.

Choose between club and country… 🤔

It can only be a good thing that West Ham have two academy players starting in the same eleven on an international stage.

However, Mayers and Golambeckis could not prevent England U19s from suffering a disappointing defeat.

Golambeckis was at fault for the second goal in their 2-0 loss against Serbia U19s after giving the ball away in his own half.

Meanwhile, Mayers could do nothing about Serbia’s first goal – an unbelievable strike from just over the halfway line.

Fortunately, the Hammers duo have two more games over the international break to put things right.

Having lost to Serbia, they will need to beat both Poland and Portugal to have any chance of winning their U19 European Championship qualifying group.

Only a first-place finish will ensure qualification for the U19s Euros in Wales this summer.
