A 43-year-old German cyclist has been seriously injured after collapsing while riding in a group on a popular road between Es Capdella and Andratx, in the Balearic Islands. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Reports indicate that the cyclist, who was riding with a group that included his wife, suddenly felt unwell. He lost consciousness and fell from his bike, hitting his head heavily on the road. The impact was so severe that it fractured his helmet, raising immediate concerns about the seriousness of his injuries.
The road where the accident occurred is a well-known route for cyclists, particularly at this time of year. Fellow riders quickly called emergency services after witnessing the fall. Local authorities, including several Guardia Civil patrols and the municipal police, arrived promptly to secure the area and prevent the cyclist from being moved due to suspected multiple head injuries.

An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards, and paramedics provided on-scene treatment for more than 30 minutes. The attending physician carefully examined the damaged helmet to gauge the force of the impact before approving the cyclist’s transfer to hospital.
The injured man was eventually taken to Son Espases hospital for further treatment, accompanied by his wife. Authorities have not released updates on his condition, but the response highlights the importance of helmet use and rapid emergency care in cycling accidents.
