We are winding down towards the last weekend at ATP Miami, as the draw has opened up for some lower-ranked players to make some noise. That said, someone on this side of the draw must get by No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner to have a shot at the title. As always, we at LWOT have the preview and prediction for both matches. But who will advance?

ATP Miami Quarterfinal Predictions
Alexander Zverev vs Francisco Cerundolo

Head-to-Head: Zverev 3-3 Cerundolo

For all that has been said about Alexander Zverev, he has consistently been a top-five player in the sport for the better portion of the last decade. He is 14-4 this year and is a win away from reaching at least the semifinals of both legs of the 2026 Sunshine Double. However, his path to victory on Thursday will not be easy. How about Francisco Cerundolo? Once thought of as a clay-court specialist, the 27-year-old Argentine is into the ATP Miami quarterfinals and with it is on the precipice of a new career-high. He is playing as well as anyone on tour this year, not named Alcaraz or Sinner, posting an 11-4 record since Australia.

These two have split their six encounters, and although Zverev has won the last three, Cerundolo did beat him twice in the first half of 2035. Expect elite baseline rallies between these two, with many high-paced backhand-to-backhand exchanges. I would not be shocked to see Cerundolo pull off an upset in front of a pro-Argentine crowd, but I will side with the safer pick, Sascha.

Prediction: Zverev in 3

Jannik Sinner vs Frances Tiafoe

Head-to-Head: Sinner 4-1 Tiafoe

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner is three wins away from becoming the eighth man to claim a same-year Sunshine Double. With the way the draw has opened up, paired with the Italian’s current form, he is the decided favorite to get it done. After a subpar 2025, Frances Tiafoe has bounced back with a 15-7 mark to begin 2026. The 28-year-old American has proved steady against lower-ranked opponents but is just 2-5 against top 25 players. One of those wins did come in Miami against Mensik, but Sinner provides a completely different challenge. I could see Tiafoe nabbing a 7-6 set backed by the American crowd, but a straight-set victory from the Italian seems more likely.

Prediction: Sinner in 2
