Nearly 86,000 people voted for this photo of a young Iberian lynx playing to win the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award 2026.
The photograph was taken by Austrian photographer Josef Stefan as the lynx played for around 20 minutes near to him.
The Iberian lynx is one of the world’s rarest wildcats but thanks to conservation efforts, more than 2,000 live in the wild now compared to fewer than 100 in the early 2000s.
24 images were nominated for this award and as well as the winning pic, four other finalists were highly commended.
