Coronation Street fans said the same thing after George finally saw Theo for who he really is. Weatherfield’s undertaker has had his suspicions about Theo’s behaviour in recent weeks but Thursday’s episode saw George finally connect the dots. Soap fans were overjoyed to see George make a bold move towards the villain.

Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw) and Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) have taken centre stage on the soap over the past year. We’ve watched their relationship develop from the very beginning when Todd fell head over heels for the new builder in Weatherfield.

But things soon took a sinister turn and Theo transformed into a terrifying abuser. Todd has fallen victim to endless amounts of physical and psychological abuse, as a dark domestic abuse storyline unfolded on the soap.

Todd’s close friends have been oblivious to what has really gone on behind closed doors– until now.

George and Summer were heartbroken to learn Theo and Todd had got married in secret. But George knew there was something darker going on, as Todd didn’t have a say in his own marriage.

On Thursday, fans were glad to see Theo caught in the act. He arrived home after a run, yelling abuse through the bathroom door aimed at Todd.

But Theo was shocked when it was George who opened the door instead of Todd, knowing he had heard everything.

Taking to social media, one viewer said: “Caught in the act Theo – about time!! Thank god for George!”

A second said: “Yes, let’s see how Theo is gonna wriggle out of the nasty things he said, thinking he was shouting at Todd.”

A third wrote: “Yes George, save Todd.”

Theo quickly tried to cover up his tracks by telling Todd to reassure George, but George was having none of it. He shouted at Theo and said: “Stop telling him what to say”.

Fans were thrilled to see someone finally stand up to Theo, after months of witnessing him abuse Todd while Todd’s personality has slowly faded away.

On X, one fan said: “‘STOP TELLING HIM WHAT TO SAY!’ Thank you George!!” A second said: “George finally seeing through Theo’s act, very good scene” while a third added round of applause emojis.

Another fan said the storyline was making them “sad”, as many viewers have described it as a hard-watch. They wrote: “I am not going to lie, watching this storyline unfold with Todd really makes me sad. I really hope George and Summer, are somehow able to get Todd away from Theo.”

As the episode came to an end, viewers watched as George opened up to Summer about his theory that Theo is abusing Todd.

He said: “That wasn’t a wedding, that was a kidnapping.”

Summer said: “What should we do?” and George said: “Get him away from that monster”.

Fans will have to wait until next week to see what happens next, as the episode of Coronation Street has been removed from Friday night’s schedule.

Another episode has been scheduled on Sunday, March 29 as a replacement at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

Coronation Street airs weekdays at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
