ESPNcricinfo had reported on Wednesday that Bumrah was at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to work on his strength and conditioning. While he is expected to be available for the game against KKR, there is no clarity on when he will link up with the squad.

After the T20 World Cup final loss against India on March 8, Santner captained New Zealand for the first three T20Is against South Africa at home and was given a break for the last two. Jacks, meanwhile, was part of the England squad that lost to India in the semi-final and had departed India on a chartered flight shortly after. It is yet to be confirmed whether either Santner or Jacks has arrived in India.

Ahead of the game on Sunday, both MI and KKR trained simultaneously at the Wankhede Stadium. For MI, Rohit Sharma was among the first to take strike in the nets, batting for over an hour predominantly against pace. He faced extended spells from Shardul Thakur and the captain Hardik Pandya, which included several short-pitched deliveries. Hardik followed up a near-hour-long bowling stint with an extended batting session. One of the key selection calls for MI heading into the season remains their opening combination alongside Rohit – Ryan Rickelton or Quinton de Kock. Both the South African wicketkeeper-batters were present at training today, with Rickelton batting alongside Rohit while de Kock focused on fielding drills. Notably, Rickelton was the one spotted doing an extensive session of wicketkeeping drills after batting.Among those who also batted were Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav, who practiced their big shots. Also in action was Danish Malewar, a new addition to the squad at the 2026 auction following an impressive domestic season.

Towards the end of the training, MI fast bowlers Deepak Chahar, Ashwani Kumar and new recruit Mohammad Izhar took turns to bowl at the stumps under the watchful eye of bowling coach Lasith Malinga.
