West Ham have responded to Graham Potter’s public plea for signings with an exciting transfer vow, as the Hammers are linked with a host of deals.

The countdown is on to the start of the Premier League season and the closing of the summer transfer window.

West Ham have made three signings so far with the arrival of impressive left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, versatile back-up Kyle Walker-Peters and controversial striker capture Callum Wilson.

As far as West Ham fans are concerned, it is nowhere near enough.

But they’re not alone in that thinking, because Graham Potter feels the same.

The Hammers boss promised a summer overhaul around young, dynamic talent.

Potter wants more Hammers signings

That has not transpired so far with Diouf the only newcomer who fits the bill of his stated recruitment policy.

Although young midfielder Freddie Potts looks likely to get his big chance in the West Ham first team this season too.

Ahead of West Ham’s final pre-season game before the big Premier League kick-off, Potter has declared he needs more signings.

“We’re working behind the scenes to make that happen,” the West Ham head coach said.

That invited an intriguing transfer update from West Ham’s hierarchy when pressed on the situation earlier this week.

Speculation has been rife about multiple moves for goalkeepers, midfielders and attackers.

Henry Winter and a host of top sources claim West Ham are closing on signing Mads Hermansen, the Leicester City goalkeeper.

It had looked like a move for Mads Hermansen was dead.

Especially with reports in Brazil suggesting Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor is on his way to east London.

And the fact there have also been multiple bids made for Werder Bremen stopper Michael Zetterer, as reported by Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger.

⚒️ West Ham have submitted a bid for Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer (30/🇩🇪). The last offer was below Bremen’s €5m valuation. Zetterer is under contract until 2027 but he’s up for sale.

But Hermansen appears to remain very much a key target.

West Ham make exciting transfer vow after Potter plea

West Ham are being heavily linked with Aston Villa midfield ace Jacob Ramsey, a client of agent Will Salthouse – who is close with Hammers chief David Sullivan and his sons.

And yesterday Foot Mercato claimed West Ham are pushing to bring young Metz striker Idrissa Gueye to the club.

Hammers News reported that Senegal striker Gueye was watched by West Ham head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay in Metz’s recent friendly against Lens.

It seems he was suitably impressed because it’s being claimed the Hammers are desperate to sign the 6ft 2in 18-year-old – who is said to be available for around £13.5m.

Despite links to a host of players, the mood amongst the fanbase has been dampened by claims West Ham’s PSR restrictions mean more sales are needed to make further signings.

But now there is some welcome positive news from the very top of the club.

West Ham have made an exciting transfer vow after Potter’s plea for signings.

It was put to the top spokesman for West Ham’s owners whether there was any truth to claims the club is closing on the likes of Hermansen, Victor and Gueye.

The Hammers board played their cards close to their chest.

West Ham ‘100 per cent confident’ of more signings

“We have many balls in the air,” the top spokesman for West Ham’s owners told Hammers News.

“I can’t comment on what we may or may not do.”

But when pressed whether the club is confident and hopeful of making further signings – plural – the response was very encouraging indeed.

“Yes, 100 per cent we are,” the key senior Hammers spokesman added.

It doesn’t get any more emphatic than 100 per cent.

That will be a relief for West Ham fans and Potter.

The quality of the signings made between now and the window closing on September 1st will shape West Ham’s season.

Potter’s team is clearly short in several areas and the Premier League is expected to be fiercely competitive this season after two years where all three promoted clubs went straight back down.

Another worry is at centre-back with the quartet of Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman, Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos all far from convincing.

But it seems it would require a sale in that department in order for West Ham to bring a new centre-half to the club.
