SandWorld at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth is set to reopen today, Saturday, March 28 – and this year’s opening day comes with a very special guest.
Weymouth’s very own James Baker, finalist from hit BBC show The Traitors, will be joining the team to celebrate the start of the new season.
The Traitors is a psychological reality gameshow set in a castle where a group of contestants must work together to build a prize pot while secretly trying to identify and eliminate hidden ‘traitors’ among them.

James will be appearing at SandWorld from 10.30am to 12.30pm, giving visitors the chance to meet him in person, snap a photo and be part of the excitement.
James is a 38‑year‑old gardener from Weymouth who appeared as a faithful on season 4 of BBC’s The Traitors, making it all the way to the final.
To mark the occasion, a brand-new sand sculpture inspired by his Traitors journey will be officially unveiled on the day.
Co-founder Mark Anderson said: “We’re really excited to welcome James to SandWorld for our opening day. As a local lad who’s done incredibly well, it feels very special to celebrate his journey with a sculpture and invite the community to come and be part of it.”
Visitors are encouraged to grab their cloaks, gather their fellow faithful’s and come along for a fun and memorable start to the season.

SandWorld transforms over 2,000 tonnes of Weymouth sand, the equivalent of 1,290 cars, into an incredible display of 17 giant sculptures, all created using just sand and water.
Known for its exceptionally fine 0.15mm grain, Weymouth’s sand is considered among the best in the world for sculpting, allowing artists to achieve remarkable detail and scale.
As always, SandWorld offers visitors of all ages the chance to get creative and give the craft a go themselves by creating their very own sand sculptures.
The 2026 season runs from March 28 to November 8 and for more information or to book tickets, visit www.sandworld.co.uk.
